Being a nurse working in several Chicago area hospitals, I have the natural tendency to want to help people. But understandably, most patients in the hospital do NOT want to be there and are often not very pleasant to deal with. My patients are typically at a point in their lives where it is very difficult to influence them to make positive changes for their health. I knew I could make a more fulfilling difference if I could help to prevent the problem upstream. I have always loved playing sports since childhood, starting with my “impressive” position on the 2nd string of my grade school basketball team, haha! I later became a member of the high school varsity Track & Field team, focusing on weightlifting for shot put & discus. In college, I dabbled in some Tae Kwon Do and then eventually settled into a typical adult sedentary lifestyle. On cyclical yo-yo diets and one wasted gym membership after another, I found myself 20 years later, after a miserable failed relationship staring in the mirror at a couch potato who was 25 pounds overweight. Then I remembered I had asked a friend who owns a CrossFit gym, “Can people who are totally out of shape do it? No, I mean REALLY out of shape, like 20-year-couch-potato-bad?” I had seen the YouTube videos and thought, “No @#*&$ way I could ever do THAT!” But I was desperate, and decided to trust him. I was absolutely horrible, finished last, but still felt like a rock star after my first workout and I have not looked back since! My story is not unique. I have seen it over and over again. I love showing people how to AMAZE themselves: This is the way I can make a difference UPSTREAM. Certifications:

Coach KMB I started my CrossFit athletic journey in the Spring of 2013 and have loved every painful minute since. I feel like CrossFit has provided a sense of balance and health to my life and I enjoy sharing this gift of CrossFit with others. My motto is “you can always do more than you think you can.” I enjoy CrossFit for the sense of community, intensity, and being surrounded with other motivated people.
